WIP Update: Small Steps

This week has been a quieter one on the writing front.

The school holidays have officially started, which means my writing time has become a little more limited. Some seasons are naturally more productive than others, and that's okay.

The biggest excitement this week was that the proof copy of What Falls to Us finally arrived!

I always like to do my final proofread from a physical copy. There's something about a paperback that helps me spot awkward wording and tiny mistakes that my brain has happily skipped over a dozen times before on the screen.

I only managed to start yesterday evening, so I'm just two chapters in, and I already have a dozen changes I want to make.

This week I've also been adding a few more chapter outlines to Complicitous.

It's still in the planning stage, but with each chapter I outline, the story becomes a little clearer. I love this part of the process because it feels like solving a puzzle and working out how all the pieces fit together before I start writing the full draft.

So, not the busiest writing week, but progress is still progress.

Here's where things stands:

• What Falls to Us – Proofreading has officially begun (2 chapters down!).

• Complicitous – More chapter outlines complete and the story continues to take shape.

Sometimes writing moves forward in giant leaps.

Sometimes it moves forward one proofread chapter and a handful of chapter outlines at a time.
